A VERY BUSY RACING WEEKEND FOR FUJI-SERVETTO

Competitions for FUJI-SERVETTO pile up as February comes to an end. Our Boys in Blue are facing a very busy racing weekend, since, while the team finishes their arguably greatest competition up to date at last Tuesday-starting Giro di Sardegna –Jesus del Nero is 5th in the provisional GC-, three more races will see them take part in, all of them with UCI’s 1.1 category. At the same time the Sardinian stagerace closes, a team unit directed by Stefano Zanini and led by youngster Eros Capecchi will go for the victory at Lugano’s Gran Premio dell’Insubria in Switzerland. The 22-year-old Italian rider might take advantage of his great fitness level, as seen at the Vuelta a Andalucia, to notch up the win along with Juanjo Cobo, David de la Fuente, Hilton Clarke, Fredrik Kessiakoff, Ermanno Capelli and Daniele Nardello, all of them doing a repeat with what’s left in their tanks at the 63rd edition of the renowned Grand Prix of Lugano.

Meanwhile, some more riders from FUJI-SERVETTO will head in Spanish turf to ride at the 24th Clásica de Almería, with Sabino Angoitia leading an all-Spanish 7-man group: Jesus del Nero, Benat Intxausti, Alberto Benitez, Ricardo Serrano, Arkaitz Duran, Josep Jufre and lately recovered Angel Gomez, who starts here his 2009 calendar. Gomez went over a very difficult 2008 season, with unfortunate accidents and falls, plus suffered from a fracture of his pelvis, caused by another fall during a training ride to keep him 50 days off the roads.
