PHILADELPHIA, PA (May 28, 2009) – One of the most elite bicycle teams in the world, Fuji-Servetto, will visit Philadelphia’s Cadence Cycling Foundation (CCF), a non-profit created to introduce competitive cycling to Philadelphia-area youth on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 2pm.

Fuji-Servetto, is one of only three Protour teams competing in the Philadelphia International Championship which begins at 9am, June 7th. The Spanish-based team which is sponsored by Philadelphia-based bicycle manufacturer, Fuji, consists of top riders Ivan Dominguez, Hilton Clarke, Fabrice Piemontesi, Davide Vignano, Ermanno Capelli, Paolo Bailetti, Alberto Benitez, Jesus Del Nero and Txema Gonzalez.

The Cadence Cycling Foundation was founded in 2007 by Jay Snider, former president of the Philadelphia Flyers hockey team, with a mission of “Helping Kids Create Opportunities through Cycling.”  Life skills, such as goal setting, discipline, teamwork, commitment, etc. are developed through the sport of cycling. Cadence Cycling Foundation coaches and mentors then provide resources, guidance, and support to transfer those traits to the college preparation process.

The team will visit with the CCF kids at Cadence Cycling & Multisport on Main Street in Manayunk where they plan to sign autographed posters and talk to the aspiring cyclists about life in the professional end of the sport.

“We are so happy for the kids to be able to mix it up with some of the riders who race in big European races like the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France,” said Ryan Oelkers, Executive Director of CCF. “Some of our kids, many of whom had not been exposed to the sport of cycling before we began this program, have incredible talent and would love to know what it takes to be in the big leagues.”

All press is welcome. Please contact Ryan Oelkers @  267-973-5821 or Karen Bliss @ 610-390-6690 for more information.
