In an emotional race capped by a gut-wrenching sprint finish, Gerardo Fernandez placed himself above the Ciudad de Chivilcoy squad in the Race of Capitan Sarmiento. The Fuji rider finished above Marcos Crespo in 2nd, and Fernando Antonga in 3rd. In Seventh Place was Fuji rider Juan Gaspari, who gave a tremendous effort during the race to help position Fernandez as the winner. This is the second major win for Gerardo who earlier in this season won the most important stage race in the Argentina road season.
